Mercedes-AMG unveiled the all-electric GT SUV on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. The reveal was part of "The 140 Festival," the event marking the return of three S-Class sedans from a world tour. It is not a combustion car and it will not change what V8 owners deal with in the shop. It does show where AMG is putting its engineering effort.
What Mercedes-AMG announced
According to Mercedes-Benz, the GT SUV is the first full-size SUV developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG. It is the second new model on the AMG.EA high-performance architecture. The first was the electric GT 4-Door Coupé. The line-up is the AMG GT 53 SUV, the AMG GT 55 SUV and the top AMG GT 63 SUV.
Power and drive layout
Mercedes-AMG says the GT 63 SUV uses three axial flux motors for up to 860 kW (1,169 hp), with 530 kW of continuous output. Electrek lists the US-market peak figure as 1,153 hp and 1,475 lb-ft of torque. The GT 55 SUV uses the same three-motor hardware and is engineered for up to 600 kW (816 hp). The GT 53 SUV has two synchronous motors and up to 400 kW (544 hp).
Acceleration claims differ by market and test method. Mercedes-AMG gives 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds for the GT 63. Electrek lists 0-60 mph at 2.6 seconds, or 2.4 seconds with a one-foot rollout, and calls these estimates. The top speed is 270 km/h, and Mercedes-AMG says that figure requires the optional Driver's Package. Electrek gives the US-market limit as 168 mph.
Mercedes-AMG describes all of its figures as provisional. It says no values have been confirmed by an officially recognized testing organization and that EC type approval has not been issued.
Battery and charging
The GT 63 SUV and GT 55 SUV use a 128 kWh battery that Mercedes-AMG says can charge at up to 710 kW DC. That can add up to 450 km of WLTP range in ten minutes, and a 10 to 80 percent charge can take about twelve minutes. Electrek reports that the GT 53 uses a 106 kWh pack and peaks at 600 kW. The GT 63 and GT 55 are rated at up to 700 km of WLTP range and the GT 53 at up to 668 km.
Electrek notes a practical limit for US buyers. Most of the fastest public chargers there are rated for 400 kW, so a car that charges near 710 kW will rarely get to use its peak rate.
Chassis, weight and interior
The GT 63 SUV comes standard with AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL+ suspension, which Mercedes-AMG says counteracts pitch and roll, and with carbon-ceramic brakes. On the GT 55 the suspension and brakes are options. Electrek reports standard rear-axle steering of up to 6 degrees. It also lists a curb weight of 2,695 kg (5,942 lb) for the GT 63 SUV.
Inside, there is a 14.0-inch multimedia display and a 10.2-inch instrument cluster. Electrek says the car seats five and has 21.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and a 2.8-cubic-foot front trunk.
Mercedes-AMG says the AMGFORCE Sport+ driving program plays the sound of an AMG V8, or a six-cylinder in the GT 53, along with simulated gear changes and seat shakers.
Timing
Electrek reports that first units reach US dealerships in summer 2027. It also says Mercedes has not announced US pricing. Mercedes-Benz's own release says nothing about US timing or pricing.
